A pioneer in the shotgun field, the 1887 was the first lever action repeating shotgun made in the US.
A 12 gauge shotgun, the Model 1887 was generously sized, which was a popular style of the time, and continued in the Winchester line until 1901 when it was changed to 10 gauge only. The 12 gauge was not revived until the 1897 shotgun was introduced. Approximately 64,855 Model 1887s were produced.
Our Winchester Model 1887 stocks are intended for only early original firearms, manufactured through 1901. They are not correct for recently manufactured reproduced or re-introduced models. Despite rumors and claims to the contrary, these later models are not exact reproductions of early original Winchesters.
